Chief Executive wants more synergies between One Belt, One Road and the Macau platform

Macau Chief Executive Chui Sai On said on Tuesday it was necessary to combine the action of China’s One Belt, One Road initiative with the Service Platform for Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Chui Sai On mentioned the need to take advantage of the large number of returned Chinese and the close ties with the Portuguese-speaking and Southeast Asian countries for greater synergy between the two projects.

The need to boost construction of the “Service Platform” to make best use of the support measures provided by the Chinese central government was also mentioned at the meeting of the entities that make up the Committee on Development of the Service Platform for Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The Chief Executive also said that interdepartmental collaboration would be strengthened to make better use of the support provided by China and announced last October during the 5th Ministerial Conference of Forum Macau attended by the Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

At the meeting, Chui also said that work is underway to establish the headquarters of the Fund for Development Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, the construction of the “Service Platform Complex for Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” and the creation of the “Business Federation of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.” (macauhub)
