Macau received 7.8 million visitors in the first quarter of the year, a 5.6% increase over the same period of 2016, reported the Statistics and Census Bureau.
The number of visitors from mainland China (5.3 million), South Korea (229,600) and Taiwan (255,600) increased by 7.6%, 32.0% and 1.9% respectively, year on year, while visitors from Hong Kong (1.5 million) decreased by 2.5%.
In the first three months of the year visitors remained in Macau for an average of 1.2 days, a year on year increase of 0.1 days.
In March, Macau was visited by 2.5 million people, or an increase of 5.7% on a yearly basis and a slight increase of 0.2% on month.
The visitors remained in the territory for an average of 1.2 days which was identical to that seen in March 2016. (macauhub)
