Macau prepares creation of the Business Federation of China and Portuguese Speaking Countries

Representatives of Macau in the future Business Federation of China and Portuguese Speaking Countries (FECPLP) met on Wednesday to discuss the drafting of the articles of association, membership categories and organisational structure of the institution, according to the Macau Institute for Trade and Investment Promotion (IPIM).

The Macau preparatory committee for the institution whose creation was decided in October 2016 at the 5th ministerial meeting of Forum Macau is led by IPIM and includes 10 members of associations and chambers of commerce and industry based in Macau.

IPIM’s statement said that during the Meeting of Businesspeople for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, held in June in Cabo Verde (Cape Verde), the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and trade promotion organisations from seven Portuguese-speaking countries and Macau will meet to address issues related to the articles of association and the functioning of the federation.

The Business Federation of China and the Portuguese-speaking countries is led by CCPIT, the trade promotion bodies of seven Portuguese-speaking countries and the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM).

The federation aims to promote exchanges and cooperation between enterprises from China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, to strengthen business, promote bilateral trade and development of trade and investment.

The FECPLP also intends to support Macau in the construction of the service platform for trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, encouraging entrepreneurs to make use of the advantages of Macau to develop cooperation projects and the economic diversification of Macau.
