A meeting to raise awareness of economic and investment opportunities in Timor-Leste (East Timor) will take place on 16 June in Darwin, northern Australia, organised by TradeInvest Timor-Leste (TITL).
TradeInvest said in a statement that its first foreign business forum follows an identical meeting held in Dili in 2016 that brought together investors from several countries, most notably Australians.
Arcanjo da Silva, the chief executive of TradeInvest, said that the Darwin meeting opens a new channel of promotion, informing potential investors and companies of “opportunities and potential for export” in Timor-Leste.
The business forum will focus in particular on the areas defined by the government as a priority for economic diversification, namely infrastructure, agriculture and tourism.
Participants in the meeting are Timorese officials and the government of the Australian region along with representatives of dozens of companies. (macauhub)
