The Mozambique LNG Marine Terminal Company will design, build and operate the maritime liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, whose terms and conditions have been approved by the government, the Council of Ministers spokesperson said on Tuesday in Maputo.
The LNG terminal will be built in Palma, northern Cabo Delgado province, where US groups Anadarko Petroleum and Italy’s ENI hold the Area 1 and Area 4 concessions, containing large natural gas deposits.
Ana Comoana also said that the government had approved the decree that establishes the terms and conditions of the concession contract for unloading facilities in the two areas with the Mozambique MOF company.
The spokeswoman and deputy minister of Culture and Tourism, quoted by Mozambican news agency AIM, said Mozambique MOF will be responsible for the design, handling and management of these same facilities.
Oil companies will share these facilities rather than each building their own, and use of the facilities will be extended to other possible operators in the future, the spokeswoman said. (macauhub)
