Capital Airlines on Tuesday began flights between Beijing and Macau, giving the territory a total of 25 flights a week to the capital of China, according to Eric Fong, marketing director of Macau International Airport (CAM) .
The Chinese airline has announced that it will offer four weekly trips between Macau and Beijing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
This connection from Macau to Beijing will offer the territory connections to Lisbon, Portugal, taking advantage of the flight that Capital Airlines launched on Wednesday between the Chinese and Portuguese capitals.
Simon Chan, chairman of the Macau Civil Aviation Authority, stressed the importance of the Beijing-Lisbon direct connection, not only for Portuguese people living in Macau, but also for Chinese business people and tourists.
Portugal’s ambassador to China, Jorge Torres Pereira, said on Tuesday that the direct air link between Beijing and Lisbon should increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting Portugal, “the country being ambitious and aiming in the future to receive 1 million Chinese tourists a year. ”
The flights in the first two weeks between Beijing and Lisbon have an average occupancy of 80% while in the opposite direction – Lisbon to Beijing – occupancy is 62%. (macauhub)
