The hotel and tourism sector has enabled the creation of 131,000 jobs in Angola this year, the director of the Institute for Tourism Development (Infotur) recently said in the city of Lubango.
Eugénio Clemente, quoted by Angolan news agency Angop, said that those jobs were taken up, for the most part, by young people, who were placed in hotels, restaurants and services, among others.
The director of Infotur said that the number of jobs created already exceed the number counted in the same period of 2016 by 21,000 and noted that the hotel sector is the one that currently employs the most young people in Angola.
Clemente confirmed that in 2016, the number of people who visited Angola decreased from 650,000 in 2015 to 550,000, but added that he expects to see improvements in 2018, “given that the economic crisis is expected to be a temporary phase.”
The hotel and tourism sector currently employs more than 700,000 people in Angola. (macauhub)
