Macau companies can help Chinese counterparts invest in Portuguese-speaking countries

Macau’s Economy and Finance Secretary Leong Vai Tac said at a meeting in Changsha, in China’s Hunan province, that he hoped companies interested in investing in Portuguese-speaking countries would cooperate with companies from Macau companies.

Leong Vai Tac accompanied the Chief Executive, Chui Sai On, who held a meeting with the provincial governor of Fujian, Yu Weiguo, to discuss joint participation in the “Belt and Road “and the deepening of cooperation in the areas of tourism, conventions and exhibitions, among other topics.

The two leaders travelled to Changsha to attend the 2017 Joint Leadership Meeting in as part of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation.

The Secretary for Economy and Finance recalled that the China-Portuguese Speaking Countries Cooperation and Development Fund is already based in Macau and that the parties have already discussed ways to help Fujian entrepreneurs to “invest abroad” and “attract foreign investment,” taking advantage of Macau’s role as a service platform for trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
