Macau receives over 23.8 million visitors between January and September

Macau received more than 23.8 million visitors in the first nine months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%, according to the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).


The number of visitors from China (16 million) rose 6.3%, while those from South Korea (644,109) grew by 34.9% year-on-year.


Visitors from Hong Kong (4.65 million) and Taiwan (802,238) decreased by 2.9% and 0.9%, respectively, compared to the first nine months of last year.


According to DSEC in September, 2.48 million visitors arrived in Macau, 2.4% more compared to the same month of 2016 and 13.3% less against the previous month (August 2017).


Of the total arrivals to Macau in September, 1.72 million came from Mainland China, namely from Guangdong, Hunan and Fujian provinces.
