Finland’s Wärtsilä operates power plants in Timor-Leste

Finnish company Wärtsilä has signed a five-year contract with Timor-Leste (East Timor) power company Companhia de Electricidade de Timor-Leste (EDTL) to continue to operate and maintain two power stations in the north and south of the country.


Wärtsilä was already in charge of operating the plants of Hera, north of Dili (119 MW) and Betano (136 MW) in the south of the country.


The Finnish company supplied the gas generators and other equipment for the two power plants and a third located in Inur Sakato, in special region of Oecusse.


Virgilio Guterres, director-general of EDTL said that the contract will ensure a stable supply of energy to Timor-Leste.  (macauhub)
