Gross revenue at Macau’s casinos is this year expected to post two-digit growth, the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Leong Will Tac said on Friday, noting that revenue growth had remained stable and positive.
The secretary said that if the current trend continues in 2018, it is estimated that the value of revenue from gaming will be even higher than this year.
In October Macau’s casinos reported joint gross revenue of 26.633 billion patacas (US$3.329 billion), which was the best monthly figure since the economic adjustment of Macau, although still below the 26.8 billion patacas recorded in the same month of 2011.
Leong Will Tac also said that, despite an increase in tourism income outside of gaming, the tourism industry and the gaming sector will keep up their competitive capabilities in November and December.
Figures released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau showed accumulated gross revenue from January to October of 220.010 billion patacas (US$27.501 billion), an increase of 19.2% compared to the same period of 2017.
Gross revenue recorded in 2016 reached 223.210 million patacas (US$27.901 billion). (macauhub)
