Macau company acquires stake in media group in Portugal

KNJ Investment, a Macau-based investment company, has acquired a 30% stake in the Global Media Group for 15 million euros, the Portuguese media group reported in a statement issued on Monday in Lisbon.

The capital invested by KNJ Investment, owned by entrepreneur Kevin Ho King Lun, will be used to expand the digital activity and in the internationalisation of the group, particularly in the Portuguese-speaking countries and the Portuguese communities abroad, according to the statement .

The Portuguese group also reported that Angolan businessman António Mosquito and Portugal’s Luís Montez transferred their stakes to José Pedro Soeiro, 47, a businessman and manager with interests in Portuguese, Angolan and UK companies.

As a result of these transactions, the Global Media Group now has two shareholders with 30% interests – KNJ Investment and José Pedro Soeiro – one with 20% – Joaquim Oliveira – and two with 10% each – Banco Comercial Português (BCP) and Novo Banco .

The Global Media Group controls the TSF radio station, newspapers such as Diário de Notícias, Jornal de Notícias, sports newspaper O Jogo and financial news digital brand, Dinheiro Vivo, magazines and regional newspapers such as the Açoriano Oriental (Portugal’s oldest newspaper), Jornal do Fundão and Diário de Notícias da Madeira.
