Population of Macau increases by 100 people in third quarter of 2017

The population of Macau increased by 100 people in the third quarter of the year to a total of 648,500 people, 53% of whom are female, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said.

In the quarter under review, the number of Chinese immigrants (1,274) and the number of individuals authorised to reside in Macau (387) climbed in quarterly terms, by 498 and five people, respectively.

At the end of the third quarter of this year there were 176,666 non-resident workers in Macau, which was an increase of 2,028 people against the previous quarter.

Macau has a land area of 30.5 square kilometres and a population density of 21,261 people per square kilometre, one of the highest in the world. (macauhub)
