Macau’s casinos recorded gross revenues of 265.743 billion patacas (US$33.217 billion) in 2017, an increase of 19.1% compared to 223.210 billion patacas recorded in 2016, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said.
Gross revenue in December totalled 22.699 billion patacas (US$ 2.837 billion), up 14.6% compared to 19.815 billion patacas registered in the same period of 2016.
December also saw the seventeenth consecutive month of year-on-year increases in gross revenue, after a 26-month series of losses started in June 2014, which was only reversed in August 2016, a month in which there was modest year-on-year growth of 1.1% to 18.836 billion patacas (US$2.354 billion).
At the end of the third quarter of 2017 there were 40 casinos in Macau, 22 run by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, six by Galaxy Casino, five by Venetian Macau, four by Melco Crown Gaming (Macau), two by Wynn Resorts (Macau) and one by MGM Grand Paradise, which had a total of 6,449 gambling tables and 16,310 slot machines.
