Macau received visitors totalling 32.61 million people in 2017, an increase of 5.4% compared to the figure recorded in 2016, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau reported, adding that the average length of stay was 1.2 days, identical to last year.
The number of visitors from Mainland China, 22.19 million people, increased 8.5% year-on-year and visitors from South Korea rose 32.0% to 874,000, while visitors from Hong Kong (6.16 million) and Taiwan (1.06 million) fell 4.0% and 1.3%, respectively.
There were annual declines in the number of visitors from the United States, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.
In December 2017, Macau received 3.05 million visitors, the highest monthly figure since August 2014, representing year-on-year growth of 8.5% and 7.8% on month. (macauhub)
