Direct flights between the cities of Praia and Luanda by the TACV and TAAG flag airlines are expected to resume soon, the Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) ambassador to Angola Jorge Figueiredo said on Friday in Benguela.
Following an audience with the governor of Benguela, Rui Falcão, with whom he discussed the establishment of partnerships in the areas of education, agriculture, construction and bilateral relations, the Cape Verdean diplomat said that the two countries continue to discuss flights between Angola and Cabo Verde, which have been suspended for more than a year.
The flights were suspended by the Angolan airline in November 2016 because the route had an occupancy rate of less than 50%.
The ambassador also said that the Benguela provincial government has made the areas of education (provision of teachers for basic, secondary and technological education), agriculture and civil construction available to Cabo Verde.
The Angolan province of Benguela has the highest number of resident Cape Verdean citizens, after Luanda province, with an estimated 600 living there, according to the Angop news agency. (macauhub)
