BNU posts profit of US$88.2 million in 2017

Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU) posted a profit of 705.69 million patacas (US$88.2 million) in 2017, an increase of 25.9% over the figure of 560.5 million patacas recorded in 2016, according to the bank’s balance sheet published on Wednesday in the Macau Official Gazette.

The document also said that last year the bank posted revenues in the amount of 1.821 billion patacas and costs in the amount of 1115.3 million patacas.

The Bank of China posted a net profit of 4.947 billion patacas (US$618.4 million) in 2017, which was due to income of 16.033 billion and costs in the amount of 11.086 billion patacas.

Since Macau was transferred back to Chinese administration in 1999, the BNU and the Bank of China have been the banks that issue currency in Macau. (macauhub)
