China is the main customer of 12 Brazilian states and the Federal District in 2017

China was the main foreign customer in 2017 of 12 states in Brazil and the country’s Federal District, according to figures from the Brazilian Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services.

The states whose main export destination was China were Alagoas, Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and Tocantins, as well as the Federal District.

After China, the United States was the second main export destination of six Brazilian states – Amapá, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Paraíba, Santa Catarina and São Paulo.

Three other regions and countries took the lead among the export destinations of the Brazilian states – Argentina (Amazonas and Pernambuco), Hong Kong (Acre and Rondônia) and the Netherlands (Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe).

Canada was the main export destination of Maranhão and Venezuela was the country that most imported goods from Roraima in 2017.

China, Brazil’s main trading partner, imports mainly soybeans (43% of the total), iron ore and concentrates (22%) and oil (15%). (macauhub)
