Future of Forum Macau under discussion at its 15-year celebrations

The Secretary-General of Forum Macau, Xu Yingzhen, announced in Beijing that the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the institution, in 2003 following a Chinese initiative joined by the Portuguese-speaking countries, would be celebrated in Macau this year.

Xu, who headed a delegation of Forum Macau to the Chinese capital, also revealed that a seminar will take place in Macau, to showcase a retrospective of the Forum’s work and its future development.

Forum Macau said that during the meetings the Secretary-General stated that one of the future missions of the Forum will be to support the Macau Government in the construction of the Platform for Services for Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.

Xu also noted that Forum Macau will continue to promote economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchange between China and Portuguese-speaking countries through joint measures from Mainland China, Portuguese-speaking countries, and Macau.

According to the statement, the Forum Macau delegation met with the ambassadors or representatives of Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde (Cape Verde), Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and Timor-Leste (East Timor), with the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Department and the Ministry of Commerce’s Foreign Trade Development Administration and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuff, Native Produce and Animal By-products.
