Gross casino gaming revenues in Macau rose by 5.7% in February to 24.3 billion patacas (US$3.037 billion), according to the Macau Games Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).
The growth rate registered in the second month of 2018 compares negatively with growth in January, a month in which gross revenue increased by 36.4% compared with the same period of 2017 – 26.26 billion patacas versus 19.255 billion patacas.
In cumulative terms, gross revenue from games of chance increased 19.7% to 50.56 billion patacas (US$6.32 billion), according to data released by the DICJ.
In 2017, gross revenue from casino gaming grew 19.1% year-on-year to 265.743 billion patacas (US$33.217 billion).
At the end of 2017, there were 40 casinos, of which 22 were run by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, six by Galaxy Casino, five by Venetian Macau, four by Melco Crown (Macau), two by Wynn Resorts (Macau) and one by MGM Grand Paradise with a total of 6,419 gambling tables and 15,622 slot machines.
Two of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau’s casinos – Macau Palace and Greek Mythology – are provisionally suspended, according to the DICJ. (macauhub)
