16 March 2018

Macau is an important “gateway” to mainland China, with a close relationship with Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Great Bay and the Pan Pearl River Delta, said the chairman of the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute at a meeting in Frankfurt, Germany.

Jackson Chang added that the National Development and Reform Commission said that construction of the Great Bay and the resulting creation of a world-class urban area would create synergies in the overall development of the country and allow trade and business associations from Germany to expand business opportunities in China’s huge domestic market, using Macau as a platform.

The Chairman of IPIM was speaking at a meeting organised in partnership with the Macau Environmental Protection Bureau, together with Hessen Trade and Invest GmbH, with support from the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Frankfurt subsidiary of the Bank of China, which was attended by about 80 representatives of local government and environmental protection companies.

This exchange visit by a delegation from the Pan Pearl River Delta region to Portugal and Germany, which began on 11 March and runs until 19 March, an initiative of the Macau government, aims to launch the “Green Tour” project, this will enable the governments of the provinces and regions of the Pearl River Delta and environmental protection companies to foster their network of links with Portuguese-speaking countries and Europe.

During the visits to these countries, the delegation will be received by environmental associations and public services and visits are scheduled to companies that use advanced technologies to combat air, water and soil pollution, as well as waste treatment companies. (macauhub)
