Chinese group Hangzhou Wahaha, one of China’s largest producers of water, dairy products and soft drinks, will sponsor Portugal’s national football team to attend the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
A statement from the group said that the sponsorship is intended to raise awareness of the group’s brands in international markets with a view to future expansion of Wahaha’s products.
The amounts involved in the sponsorship deal were not revealed.
Chinese group Wahaha (laughing child in English), based in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, was founded in 1987, employs 30,000 workers and has 150 subsidiaries in China.
Wahaha has previously sponsored English football team Manchester United. (macauhub)
