The Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments, Apex-Brasil, announced on Tuesday that it has signed a cooperation agreement with Invest Hong Kong to promote investments by the Special Administrative Region of China in Brazil.
The agreement was signed by the president of Apex-Brasil Roberto Jaguaribe, and InvestHK’s Director-General for Investment Promotion, Stephen Phillips.
The agreement between the two agencies provides for the exchange of information on the investment environment and actions in Hong Kong and Brazil to encourage local companies interested in creating or expanding their businesses bilaterally.
Jaguaribe announced that Brazilian business people will participate in three fairs in Hong Kong: Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, Asia Pacific Leather Fair – MM&T and Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair in September.
In addition, Apex-Brasil will organise two business missions to Hong Kong in 2018 holding a Brazilian Fruit Festival (in partnership with Abrafrutas) and an event with the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).
In 2017 trade between Brazil and Hong Kong reached US$3.3 billion, 19.4% more than in 2016.
The main products exported by Brazil to Hong Kong in 2017 were beef, pork, and chicken. From Hong Kong Brazil imported transmitters and receivers, watches, integrated circuits and electronic micro-assemblies, electrical materials and plastics. (macauhub)
