In the second half of the year, the Macau government will launch a new information system called “GovInfo Hub”, which will replace the “IBS” (http://ibs.gcs.gov.mo) of the MSAR Communication Office (GCS), in order to increase the effectiveness of the distribution of news, photos and videos in Chinese, Portuguese and English.
Macau government spokesman and GCS director Victor Chan said at a press conference at the end of last week that the services he runs will strengthen their relationships with the local media with a view to further promoting the “Belt and Road” initiative and the creation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Great Bay Area, leveraging existing multimedia platforms.
Chan also said that the government spokesperson’s communication with the media will be strengthened so that responses to requests for information are immediate and the use of the various digital platforms for dissemination of government policies is encouraged.
The director of the GCS also addressed the work done in 2017 and argued that the media should “continue to monitor and call upon the authorities through suggestions and opinions.”
Also at the information distribution level, the GCS is responsible for the Chinese, Portuguese, English and French digital economic information platform “Macauhub,” which publishes daily news on economic relations between China and the eight Portuguese-speaking countries.
The Macauhub news service (https://www.macauhub.com.mo), launched in 2005, is also available on an App and on Facebook. It is one of the government’s tools to promote Macau as an economic and financial platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries. (macauhub)
