Extending tourism, economic and trade cooperation and exchange is one of the aims of the delegation led by the Chief Executive of Macau, Chui Sai On, which is due to visit Cambodia and Thailand from 7 to 11 May, according to official information.
Making use of Macau’s advantages, so that the territory can play its unique role as a bridge, contributing to the great development strategy of building a “Belt and Road” is another objective of the delegation which includes the Secretary for Administration and Secretary of Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam, members of the Executive Council, representatives of the Chinese overseas community and young people from Macau.
The delegation will visit the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, and the Thai capital, Bangkok, where it will meet with various officials from both countries, as well as participate in a number of activities organised by the government of the Macau Special Administrative Region in those countries.
In Phnom Penh, the Chief Executive will hold official meetings with members of the government and the Cambodian National Assembly, as well as the Chinese ambassador to that country. He will also attend a session to present Macau’s tourism and investment environment and an exchange session between young people from Macau and Cambodia, focused on the opportunities of the “Belt and Road” initiative, with the aim of promoting exchanges between the young people of the two territories.
During his stay in Bangkok, the Chief Executive will meet with several senior Thai officials and also with the Chinese ambassador there and will participate in a presentation session on economic and trade development between Thailand and Macau and in the “International Traditional Medicine Development Forum 2018.” (macauhub)
