Forum Macau promotes cooperation between companies in Yangzhou and Portuguese-speaking countries

The Permanent Office intends to promote productive cooperation between enterprises in Yangzhou and Portuguese-speaking countries, taking advantage of the multilateral mechanism of Forum Macau and the role of Macau as a platform, said the secretary general of the organisation in Jiangsu.

Secretary-General Xu Yingzhen spoke at the “Meeting on Productive Capacity Cooperation between Yangzhou, Macau and Portuguese-speaking Countries,” which was organised by the Permanent Office of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries and the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Bureau of Yangzhou Municipality.

In the speech, Xu pointed out that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Forum Macau and that the Fifth Ministerial Conference signed the Action Plan for Economic and Trade Cooperation and the Memorandum of Understanding on Promotion of Productive Capacity Cooperation.

According to a statement from the Support Office of the Permanent Office of the Forum, the two documents seek to strengthen cooperation between provinces and municipalities of the countries participating in Forum Macau and, considering their respective productive capacities and development needs, seek to encourage and support interchange between companies.

During the meeting, the delegates from the Portuguese-speaking countries presented their investment climates and the preferential policies of their countries and the representatives of the companies from mainland China presented their companies and sectors of interest.

In an additional statement, the Permanent Office of the Forum reported that a similar meeting was held on 9 May in the city of Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province. (macauhub)
