Conventions and exhibitions in Macau and food products from Portuguese-speaking countries showcased at fair in China

Macau’s advantages as a venue for conventions and exhibitions was the theme of a seminar organised by the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) in Chongqing in cooperation with government agencies in Macau, according to an official statement.

PIM organised a delegation of 30 people to take part in the 21st edition of the “Western China International Investment and Trade Fair,” formerly known as “China Chongqing International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair,” which is due to close on Monday after it began on 25 May.

Macau was represented at the event with a pavilion installed by IPIM, with an area of 126 square metres, which served mainly to promote the investment environment of Macau and the “Single Agency” for bidding and support for MICE activities in Macau, where eight companies from the special administrative region exhibited the characteristic products of the territory along with food and wine from Portuguese-speaking countries.

At the seminar to promote cooperation between the Chongqing and Macau Convention and Exhibition Sector, IPIM Executive Member Sam Lei pointed out that Macau has actively promoted its position as “One Centre (World Tourism and Leisure) and One Platform (of Services for Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries), “taking advantage of the market network between Macau, mainland China, the Portuguese-speaking countries and the rest of the world to promote the development of the conventions and exhibitions sector.

During its stay in Chongqing, the Macau business delegation attended the ceremony to unveil the plaque of the “Exhibition Centre for Food Products from Portuguese -Speaking Countries – Exhibition Point in Mainland China,” which will provide more information and support to enterprises in from Portuguese-speaking countries.
