Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa SA (HCB) and South African company Guncrete Geotechnical (Pty) Ltd have signed a contract for maintenance and consolidation of the southern slope of the hydroelectrioc facility’s dam in order to ensure the safety of the area.
The contract is intended to consolidate blocks of stone that may collapse and obstruct the area and prevent the dam from operating.
The project, which will last for three years, is expected to cost around 16 million euros.
According to a statement from HCB the company’s investment plan includes increasing the safety of the dam. (macauhub)
