Cabo Verde Telecom and EllaLink signed a Memorandum of Understanding under which Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) will have access to the 6,000-kilometre submarine cable that will link Brazil and Europe andis due to be operational by 2020.
The EllaLink system is a new four-pair submarine cable that is being built to respond to traffic between Europe and Latin America and also allows digital access to transmissions from Cabo Verde and Madeira.
EllaLink is a new submarine cable linking São Paulo and Fortaleza in Brazil, to Lisbon in Portugal and Madrid in Spain.
The system is being built by Alcatel Submarine Networks and will be one of the new generation undersea cables offering 72 terabits of capacity in 4 pairs of fibres.
EllaLink said the cables enter Brazil in Santos and Fortaleza and in Sines in Portugal. (macauhub)
