A delegation from Forum Macau, which includes representatives from the Commerce Department of Qingdao province and several Chinese companies, began a two-day visit to Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) on Wednesday to learn about the business opportunities in the archipelago, according to the Inforpress news agency.
Cabo Verde TradeInvest President Ana Lima Barber said that the visit followed a meeting organised by Forum Macau in March 2018, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the organisation, when the action plan was approved to strengthen economic and business relations between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.
The delegation includes representatives from a group of companies in Qingdao, a city in China with a strong industrial component, with which Cabo Verde Tradeinvest signed a memorandum of understanding in 2017 that allows the Cape Verdean private sector to have access to these companies and to work in partnership with them.
Barber also said that Chinese entrepreneurs can invest directly in Cabo Verde or expand their businesses to other countries in partnership with Cape Verdean companies, namely through access to the ECOWAS market, the US markets with AGOA or the special partnership that the archipelago has with Cabo Verde.
