European Union supports Cabo Verde’s budget with an additional €10 million

The Director-General for International Cooperation and Development of the European Commission, Stefano Manservisi, this week on the Cape Verdean island of Sal signed off on additional funding of €10 million in budget support to Cabo Verde (Cape Verde), according to a statement from the delegation of the European Union in the West African archipelago.

The agreement will be signed during Manservisi’s visit to Cabo Verde, on 18 and 19 July, at the 12th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), to be held on 17 and 18 of this month, on the island of Sal.

The statement quoted by the Inforpress news agency said the disbursement of the radditional Budget Support of €10 million, around 1.1 billion escudos, increases the Budget Support package for 2014-2020 to €74 million, or about 8.16 billion Cape Verdean escudos.

Manservisi will also visit EU-funded projects and various parts of the island of Sal and meet with representatives of the island’s Association of European Business Owners in Cabo Verde.

During the visit and on the sidelines of the CPLP Summit, Manservisi will also formalise regional programmes with Portuguese-speaking African countries and Timor-Leste, the statement added. (macauhub)
