Macau’s exports rose by 10.2% year-on-year to 6.196 billion patacas in the first half, but imports increased 24.8% to 43.447 billion patacas, generating a trade deficit of 37.22 billion patacas (US$4.656 billion), according to the Macau Statistics and Census Bureau.
The trade deficit registered in the first half of 2018 represented an increase of 27.6% compared to the one registered in the same period of 2017, according to figures released by the Bureau
The value of goods exported to the Portuguese-speaking countries in the first six months of the year increased by 3584.9% to 24 million patacas, with Macau importing goods from these countries in the amount of 393 million patacas, a rise of 28.3%.
In June, Macau’s exports grew 12.3% to 1.057 billion patacas and imports totalled 7.259 billion patacas, generating a trade deficit of 6.201 billion patacas. (macauhub)
