Mozambican president opens new thermal power plant in Maputo province

Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi is due on Wednesday to inaugurate a new thermal power plant in Maputo that will increase the supply of power to Maputo province and the Mozambican capital, daily newspaper O País reported.


Construction of the plant took 30 months and cost around US$180 million, of which more than 90% was financed by the Japanese government and the remainder by the Mozambican government through the Mozambican electricity company EDM.


The total capacity of the thermal power station is 106 megawatts and it operates in combined cycle which allowing for the reuse of the gases produced in the power production process. (macauhub)
