Macau to be a platform for development of traditional Chinese medicine

The construction of Macau as a platform for the scientific and industrial development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) was one of the subjects addressed by the Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau, Leong Vai Tac and the Secretary of the Zhuhai Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, Guo Yonghang at a meeting held in the city of Zhuhai.

Leong Vai Tac also said he hoped that cooperation between Macau and the neighbouring city of Zhuhai would further increase the efficiency of the Chinese trditional Medicine Park, located on the island of Hengqin. He added that it could also enhance Macau’s role as a showcase for international trade, with a view to helping companies and quality products from the Chinese mainland to explore Portuguese-speaking countries, the European Union and countries located along the “Belt and Road” attracting companies and products from abroad to enter the mainland Chinese market.

The two officials also spoke about the construction of the Guangdong-Macau Industrial Cooperation Park and bilateral cooperation in areas such as technological innovation, cross-border financial activities, tax and logistics incentives, innovation and young entrepreneurship.

Han Zheng said in turn that the Central Government supports the construction of Macau as a platform for the scientific and industrial development of TCM, which will be an unprecedented opportunity for the growth of this industry in Macau.

Zheng also said that both Macau and Zhuhai should take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge which will be open soon.
Leong Vai Tac took advantage of his visit to Zhuhai to visit the Chinese Traditional Medicine Scientific and Industrial Park as part of Guangdong-Macau Cooperation where he said he hoped the institution could seize the opportunities that will be provided by the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macau Greater Bay.
