The President of Guinea-Bissau, José Mário Vaz said on Wednesday that during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which will take place in Beijing on 3 and 4 September, he will present to China a number of projects linked to the agriculture, tourism, fisheries, infrastructure and minerals sectors in order to obtain funding for their implementation.
Speaking to the press shortly before esetting off for China, President Vaz said he was convinced that the projects selected are “drivers for the economic growth of Guinea-Bissau” and that they will therefore benefit from the Chinese government’s financial support.
The Guinean head of state did not quantify the total amount of the projects concerned, but he gave assurances that once they are funded the Chinese authorities would follow up on the implementation of the plans.
Vaz also said that during his stay in Beijing, and on the sidelines of the meeting, he would meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, to review issues related to cooperation between the two countries that date back to the period of the struggle. for national liberation.
During its stay in China the Guinean delegation will visit agronomist Yuan Longping, known as the “Father of hybrid rice,” who introduced a new variety in the production of that grain that has had positive results in the rice fields of Guinea-Bissau. (macauhub)
