Trade cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries and the opportunities that Macau has created for business and partnerships should be harnessed and exploited jointly, the president of the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) said in Xiamen.
Jackson Chang, speaking to 150 participants in the forum for investment cooperation between Macau and Fujian Province, said that Macau and Fujian should jointly explore opportunities in economic, commercial and financial cooperation, to support companies in attracting investment and expanding abroad.
During the forum, which took place on the occasion of the 20th China International Trade and Investment Fair held in Xiamen from 6 to 9 September, Zhong Muda, the deputy director of the province’s Trade Department, said that Macau, as an important location on the New Maritime Silk Road, should be used as a platform for economic and trade cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.
“Macau has a unique advantage in deepening cooperation with ASEAN and the Portuguese-speaking countries. In the future, we will continue to encourage companies in the province to seek external financing and investment in industrial funds through the Macau platform,” he said.
Macau was present at the fair with a pavilion that focused on the role of the Special Administrative Region as a platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries and the fact that the territory is an excellent centre for conventions and exhibitions and a base for the expansion of traditional Chinese medicine.
