The opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge will bring benefits to Macau’s convention and exhibition sector, trade and economy in general, said the Secretary for Economy and Finance on Thursday.
Leong Vai Tac was speaking after attending the activities of the 23rd Macau International Fair (MIF) and the Exhibition of Services and Products of the Portuguese Language Countries 2018 (PLPEX 2018).
The secretary stressed the positive effects of the opening of the bridge to the General Development Planning Lines of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay, a project to be launched shortly, in particular by enabling Macau to better integrate the Greater Bay.
He pointed out that even the flow of people and the logistics sector will have facilities for customs clearance, as well as the convention and exhibition sectors, trade, and the development of the economy as a whole, and it is expected that the economies of the three regions will also become more efficient.
At the same time, the Secretary for Economy and Finance said that the economic forecasts for the second half of this year and next year are that Macau will have a stable economy.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge is set to open on 23 October, according to the Hong Kong media. (macauhub)
