The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is studying the possibility of launching new tourist activities at night, said Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.
The director of the MGTO, quoted by the local Chinese-language radio station, said that the idea, which still under analysis, involves night walks as part of a programme that, if it becomes a reality, will be announced in 2019.
Senna Fernandes said the plan was to get more tourist products at night to encourage tourists to tour the city after sunset in an attempt to reduce the pressure caused by the large number of people in the city during the day.
During an outdoor discussion organised weekly by the radio station, the director of the MGTO said that the total number of people to visit Macau this year is expected to reach 35 million, a record and an annual increase of 7.0%.
Macau received 25.8 million visitors in the period from January to September, an increase of 8.3% year-on-year, according to the Statistics and Census Bureau. (macauhub)
