Portuguese ambassador Francisco Ribeiro Teles takes office on 15 December as the new executive secretary of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), said on Wednesday the Cape Verdean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communities.
Luís Filipe Tavares was speaking during the opening ceremony of the international conference entitled, “CPLP, an international business platform” at the Cabo Verde International Fair (FIC), which runs from 14 to 18 November in Praia.
Teles was elected last July, on the sidelines of the 12th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), which took place on the Cape Verdean island of Sal.
The diplomat, who will begin work next January for the 2019-2020 biennium, will replace Maria do Carmo Silveira, who has held the position since 2016. (macauhub)
