The Cape Verdean government wants to draw up a strategic plan on traditional medicine in cooperation with China, the archipelago’s Health Minister, Arlindo do Rosário, said in Praia on Tuesday.
The plan involves training, legislation, security and marketing across the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) market and in the community where the archipelago is located, the minister said quoted by the Inforpress news agency.
Rosário was speaking at the end of a meeting with a delegation led by the chairman of the Traditional Medicine Technology Park of Macau, a benchmark organisation for research and training and is a link to traditional Chinese medicine for several countries.
The minister recalled that Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) participated in the ministerial meeting of Forum Macao in 2016, which decided to analyse and discuss the subject of traditional medicine.
He stressed that “nowadays in countries such as Cabo Verde, where tourism is very important for development, the issue of traditional Chinese medicine has played a very important role in the search for treatment.” (macauhub)
