The Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies of Cabo Verde (AAVTCV) is considering opening a representative office in Macau, while also intending to move forward with a partnership with its local counterpart, the association said in a statement.
The statement said the opportunity presented itself when AAVTCV president Mário Sanches visited Macau where he was received by his counterpart, Alex Lau, within the framework of cooperation between the Cape Verdean entity and the Association of Macau Travel Agencies (AAVM).
The Macau organisation offered to provide a space, free of charge, as well as “all that is necessary” to open an AAVTCV delegation in Macau, to promote Cabo Verde as a tourist destination.
Sanches noted the AAVTCV’s interest in a partnership between the two associations, in areas such as the promotion of Cabo Verde in China and the training of Cape Verdean staff associated with the AAVTCV in Macau.
The statement added that the challenge was accepted by the president of AAVM, who suggested that a formal proposal on the strategy be drawn up, a process mediated by the Cabo Verde delegate to Forum Macau, Nuno Furtado.
Sanches took part in a training course on promotion of tourism destinations, from 21 to 28 November, promoted by the Macau Tourism Institute in partnership with the World Tourism Organization. (macauhub)
