President Xi Jinping on Monday expressed his “full support” for the work carried out by the Chief Executive of Macau and the government he directs during the official working mission to Beijing by Chui Sai On.

During the meeting, Xi was informed by Chui about the current situation of the Macau Special Administrative Region (Macau SAR) and the work the government has been carrying out, the Xinhua news agency reported.

Xi Jinping said that over the past year the Macau SAR Government, under the leadership of Chui Sai On, has fully fulfilled its tasks and applied the “One country, two systems” principle and the Macau Basic Law.

The President of China also said that the Macau Government introduced improvements in institutions and mechanisms to ensure national security, and was actively involved in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay area and the Belt and Road.

Chui Sai On, in reviewing this official mission, said he also held a working meeting with the director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office at the State Council, Zhang Xiaoming, and a meeting with the deputy prime minister, Han Zheng, as well as with Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

He added that his government has been simultaneously engaged in raising the level of governance and becoming more active in becoming a part of the country’s development in order to achieve the sustainable development of the MSAR. (macauhub)
