Mozambique can help traditional Chinese medicine companies enter African markets

19 December 2018

Mozambique could be a platform through which traditional Chinese medicine companies in the Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau Greater Bay region could make a “soft landing” in Africa the Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau said recently.

Leong Vai Tac also said that in order to achieve this goal there is still a lot of room for mutual cooperation between Macau and Mozambique, essentially focusing on the transformation of Mozambique into an African base for the development of traditional Chinese medicine and training of masters.

The statements made by the Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau were made during a meeting with a delegation from Mozambique headed by Deputy Minister of Health, João Leopoldo da Costa, in which he highlighted the, “fruitful results achieved by Mozambique and Macau within the framework of cooperation in the traditional Chinese medicine industry.”

During the visit to Macau, the delegation visited the Traditional Chinese Medicine Scientific and Industrial Park for Cooperation between Guangdong and Macau, an institution that in the recent past has provided teaching and training in traditional Chinese medicine in Mozambique.

The Deputy Minister of Health said he hoped that the Park and Mozambique will continue to deepen collaboration, particularly in research and development of medicines, in education and training, in medical diagnosis and treatment, and in increasing the quality of medical services. (macauhub)
