Angolan national oil company Sonangol and French group Total have set up a partnership to launch a retail network, the Angolan state oil company said.
The agreement signed last week, which follows a memorandum of understanding signed last May, will launch a new company focused on retailing and distribution of refined products and related activities.
The document was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, Carlos Saturnino and the director for Africa and the Middle East of the Total group, Stanistas Mittelman.
Mittelman noted at the time that the agreement is very important because it marks the beginning of a new activity for Total in Angola, which is the sale of fuels and lubricants.
The first fuel station, located in the São Paulo neighbourhood of Luanda, under the Total brand, opened on 21 December, and the partnership will have a network of 45 fuel stations across 11 provinces in the country.
