Macau’s foreign exchange reserves in 2018 exceed US$20 billion

Macau’s foreign exchange reserves reached 163.6 billion patacas (US$20.28 billion) at the end of December 2018, the Macau Monetary Authority said in a statement released on Tuesday.

The amount registered at the end of December was an increase of 2.9% compared to the rectified data of the previous month, which totalled 158.9 billion patacas (US$19.72 billion).

At the end of December 2018, Macau’s currency reserves represented around 10 times the money in circulation, or 83.9% of the M2 monetary aggregate in patacas at the end of November 2018. (macauhub)
