Angola and China could sign a memorandum of understanding in the next few days to support and boost activity in the Angolan fisheries and sea sector, said the minister responsible, Maria Antonieta Baptista.

The minister, who was speaking at the end of a visit from a Chinese business delegation, said that the support, which will also include granting of funding, will help to boost fishing activities in Angola.

Baptista also said that the Chinese intend to provide financial assistance to the country for the implementation of projects for catching and industrialisation of sea and river products and the development of the business sector.

The memorandum, which has not yet been signed, will include administrative assistance and monitoring of the activities of the Chinese shipowners and the eight Chinese fishing companies already operating in Angola.

Angolan news agency Angop reported that the Chinese delegation is in Angola to survey of the agriculture and fisheries sectors, in order to identify and evaluate the current state of the main projects underway as part of bilateral cooperation between Angola and China . (macauhub)
