Brazilian agency to support Macau IPIM to open office in Brazil

1 February 2019

Brazil’s export and investment promotion agency Apex-Brasil will provide all the necessary support for the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) to set up a representative office in Brazil, said Ambassador Mario Vilalva.

An IPIM delegation recently visited Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro to continue cooperation and exchange of economic and trade information, with a view to strengthening Macau’s role as a service platform for trade cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.

During the meeting held at Apex-Brasil, the ambassador and new president of the agency suggested that the city of São Paulo was the best place for IPIM to set up a representative office.

The interim president of IPIM, Irene Va Kuan Lau, took the opportunity to call on Brazilian public bodies and companies to take part in the 24th Macau International Trade Fair (MIF) and the 2019 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (2019PLPEX), to be held next October.

Irene Va Kuan Lau also extended an invitation to ambassador Mario Vilalva for Apex-Brasil to participate in the 24th MIF and proposed the signing of a new protocol of cooperation with IPIM. (macauhub)
