China’s ambassador to Angola, Cui Aimin, restated his country’s support for the development of the agriculture and industrial sectors in statements on Friday in the city of Soyo, Zaire province.

The diplomat, quoted by Angolan news agency Angop, said relations between the two countries are taking a new turn, as a result of meetings held in recent months between presidents João Lourenço and Xi Jinping.

“We have entered another phase of cooperation with Angola,” said Cui Aimin, who recalled that during last year’s visit to China, cooperation agreements were signed in various areas.

The ambassador recognised the potential of Zaire province in the areas of agriculture, fisheries and oil, and expressed China’s intention to direct more activities towards this region of Angola.

The province of Zaire, with an area of 40,130 square kilometres, has an estimated population of 594,000. (macauhub)
