Chinese Cultural Week in Cabo Verde is already part of the Cape Verdean calendar, and is guaranteed to beheld every year, said the president of the Cabo Verde-China Friendship Association (Amicachi), José Correia.
The president of Amicachi was speaking to Cabo Verde’s Inforpress news agency on the sidelines of the “Cabo Verde-China Business Economic Forum” held in Praia, as part of the 6th edition of the Chinese Cultural Week in Cabo Verde, which started on 1 February and ended last Friday.
Correia said that Chinese Cultural Week goes beyond the restricted notion of culture, and also involves education, medicine and the economic and business areas.
Speaking specifically on the Forum, he said it aims to foster bilateral mutual knowledge by exchanging information as well as understanding expectations and defining the role of the association in the cooperation between Cabo Verde and China.
Correia said that the 2019 edition of Chinese Cultural Week, whose activities took place in Praia, São Vicente and Santo Antão, had been positive, with the participation of people interested in exploring opportunities to do business with China.
Last week, China delivered 1,318 tonnes of rice to the Cabo Verde government and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Paulo Rocha, said the food donation would benefit many needy families.
Rice donated by China will be handed over to the National Food Aid Programme, as well as city councils and nongovernmental organisations, and institutions that assist needy people on a daily basis. (macauhub)
