Macau received 1.21 million visitors during the seven-day holiday from 4 to 10 February, the so-called golden week of the Lunar New Year in mainland China, according to the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO).
The number of visitors, which excludes non-resident workers and students, was an increase of 26.6% over the number registered in the same period of 2018, said the MGTO.
The Greater China market accounted for 95.1% of the total number of visitors, reaching 1.15 million entries, up 27.3% compared with the same period of last year.
The Tourism Office also reported that international markets increased by 14.2% compared with the same period of last year, with 59,000 visitors.
The MGTO explained the two-digit increase in the number of visitors with the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, as well as other favourable factors, such as the good weather and the range of activities organised for the holiday period. (macauhub)
